*Maria Fischer will be our main speaker throughout the session. Using material from Ravi Zacharias' book, The Grand Weaver, her hope each Friday is to create a fresh sense of wonder, peace and trust in God's ability to create a beautiful tapestry out of our lives. Mr. Zacharias writes: "How differently would we live if we believed that every event of our lives -- from happy to the tragic to the mundane -- was part of a meticulous and purposeful design in which all the elements intertwined with breathtaking precision?" As we trust in His ability to direct, as well as, use the events of our lives, we find ourselves becoming more at peace with life and more steadfast in our faith.
$50.00 ($60.00 after August 31st)
Ann Armenta will be teaching a class called Haggai, Zechariah, & Malachi: The Heart of Rebuilding. Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi were all prophets during the time when the Israelites had returned from exile to rebuild the temple and their lives as a nation – a time of great hopes and struggles. The prophets’ words cut right to the heart, encouraged the Israelites to remain steadfast in their work, and gave them a vision for their future. As God builds up his temple in our hearts today (1 Corinthians 3:16), we, too, have many hopes, struggles, and distractions. The class will focus on personal reflection and sharing our stories in response to the word of God. You will need to commit to setting aside time each week for homework. To read before the first class: Ezra 1:1-5:2.
Kimberly Beck will be facilitating a class called The Perfect Wreck: A Creative Journey with Spiritual Significance. The course "curriculum" is Keri Smith's book, Wreck This Journal, which features a different prompt on every page instructing the user to destroy the journal in various and sundry creative ways - from burning to biting, from spilling to scrubbing. Beyond the playful pleasures of this class, we will be exploring how perfectionism robs us of both the joy of creating and the joy of connecting. As we wreck our journals, we will also be working to dismantle those perfectionistic tendencies that keep us disconnected from God, from ourselves, and from each other. Learn how to practice the art of surrendering the outcome and you will rediscover the exhilarating adventure of creating and connecting from the heart. Books are required the first day of class, so please register by August 25th to ensure your book is ordered on time. Cost: $12.95. (Please bring payment to the first class.)
