December 2008
Our Nursery Supervisor is Ann Armenta. She and her team of loving volunteers have
Valley Vineyard
transformed our nursery into a quiet, gentle and loving environment.Though we rarely need to call a parent to come for their child during the service, when we do, we send one of our volunteers to personally find the mommy or daddy. We have found this to be a little nicer than just flashing a number in the sanctuary, and it also reduces the stress for the parent.
Pre-K (age 4 years and up) meets in room 26 with the Mr. Mark and Mrs.Gayle, Jo and Danielle. Mr Mark has been teaching Sunday School here at the Vineyard for over 25 years! Following our Pre-K class is the Kindergarten class. The kids love Mr. & Mrs. Willson, and the Willsons love teaching Sunday School. They have been teaching in our church for many years, but they have been serving in both youth and childrens ministries for over 40 years!
1st-3rd graders meet at Discipleship Dock (on the south side of the building) at 10:45 Sunday morning. The Dock is an extra large room with nautical themed decore. This room serves many purposes, but on Sunday mornings it is primarily used for the Dockers. We have curriculum -based opening activities, then we transition into our worshiptime and skits. After our large group activities, the children break up into small groups and go to their classrooms with their teachers to learn the Bible lesson for the week.
shark street
Darlene
Shark Street is for our "tweeners" -in between childhood and teen years. Here we extend our island paradise theme but in a little more funky way! Bob & Cynthia Thomas lead the Sharks along with Darlene Lee and Joseph Fassnacht in Bible lessons and activities. The biggest differences between the Shark Street class and our other Sunday School classes is the worship. We feel the kids are ready to take worship a little more seriously and join the adults for worship in the sanctuary. They sit with their classmates in the first two rows on the right hand side of the sanctuary. We look forward to teaching our Sharks this coming year and helping them grow in Christ as we worship Him together and read from His word.
By the way, this is how we got our name: Did you know that most sharks breath by having water pass over their gills as they move forward? This means in order to stay alive and breathing, sharks have to constantly keep moving forward, just as we need to be constantly moving forward in our race with Christ.
Philippians 3:12 (New Living Translation)
I don't mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection! But I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ Jesus saved me for and wants me to be.
Please keep checking the Events Callendar for other events throughout the year, like Vacation Bible School in the Summer and the Harvest Fair in the Fall.
