A place where artists, writers, musicians, composers, poets, filmmakers, and actors, can come together to present their work to a supportive audience for helpful critique and discussion.

From my own experience I know that the work of an artist can be isolating, and we need, but often don't seek out, opinions of others. Art is a form of communication, if we are not engaged (usually due to a lack of opportunity) with an audience, we are not communicating and therefore not fulfilling our potential as artists. If you are lucky enough to have an audience for what you do already, then this group can be a venue to explore and develop other aspects of your talents that you've neglected, i.e. a painter who wants to make a film, or an actor who is writing a play. In addition to discussion of work produced by the group, we will have times of viewing films, or going to exhibits, and discussing those as well, from an artistically cross-disciplinary and Christian perspective.

I should make clear that this is not a group that will follow the standard Vineyard kinship model. It is God centered, because we are individually God centered, but don't come expecting extended times of teaching from the word, prayer, and worship. Having headed such a kinship group myself, I understand the value of that model, and by no means offer this group as a substitute for that. As valuable as those types of kinship groups are, there are certain needs that we have as artists that are not being met in a non-artist group. The non-artist Christian may love us, but they don't understand us. Sometimes we don't even understand us.

I should also make clear that this is an adult group, and no subjects are off the table for discussion, no matter how controversial. We have to be free, we don't have to be right. I hope the talk gets interesting, and that there are a variety of viewpoints, otherwise this exercise will prove pointless; but unlike non-christian groups, everything said should be in love, with the objective of building up rather than tearing down.

I am offering my home, and I am facilitating the group. I am not the ultimate authority.

We will discuss of our role as artists who are Christian, and if we distinguish that from simply "Christian artists".
